Future of Music @ GWU

I just became aware that The Future of Music Coalition is holding its fifth annual summit at my own GWU Lisner Hall. The summit is “a forum for musicians, lawyers, academics, policymakers and music industry executives to come together to discuss and debate some of the most contentious issues surrounding digital technology, artists’ rights and the current state of the music industry.” Sounds like my kind of party.

Some of the panelist and/or keynote speakers include FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstine, Congressman Rick Boucher (D-VA), Mike Mills from R.E.M., Glenn Morrow from Bar/None Records, and about a gadzillion others. Also attending as a panelist is my new boss, Mike Godwin, Legal Director of Public Knowledge.

The $99 student 3-day pass is expensive but promises to be worth the cost. I’ll be blogging the event for those of you too far away or too cheap to attend.

Plant a big kiss on Mike Mills for me. Or shake his hand, your choice.
